Very minor clarification: vernier acuity refers to a specific task,
detecting misalignment of image features.  Hyperacuity is a more general
term referring to the level of performance in any task involving spatial
localization that yields thresholds that are lower than those obtained by
standard acuity measures.

I agree, particularly given how jittery the eyes are. There's some
interesting stuff being done on compensating for the effects of eye
movements (on stereo and other things), it's a bit of a hot topic these
days.
