Did you ever give any thought to using pvc plumbing parts?
Schedule 40 DWV (drain-waste-vent) is commonly available and
usually rated at well over 200 psi (plenty for the 4 atmospheres
you can dive to on air). I was thinking using a 4" T, capping one
end, putting a threaded clean out plug at the other for access
and using the center leg to shoot the lenses through. It would
seem that you could get a piece of glass for the lens port rather
than using plexi etc. Some of the T's that I have seen would
enable you to use an "O" ring at the base of the lens port leg to
seal the glass. 
Sounds like an interesting project, keep us posted.
