Yep, I'm here. I tend to be a silent listener on this list!
Having experimented quite a bit in several different macro formats, I found
that full-frame 35mm was the limit for most insect shots I've taken. When I
tried duplicating the viewing size of the image in MF, my biggest two
problems were DOF and exposure. In the end I found no advantage to MF for
extreme close-ups whatsoever, but for ratios of 1:4 or larger, the effect
was spectacular. I recently had a chance to view one of Greg Erker's slides
in MF stereo. It was a macro ( 1:5 maybe?) of frost on a pine, and it was
one of the best I'd ever seen!

Lincoln, lets talk!
One final note before I become silent again. I just shot the "World's
Biggest Implosion" yesterday, as 22 structures from the Calgary General
Hospital came thundering done. What a blast! I shot it using two motorized
ME Supers on a hyper bar of approximately 48" stereo base, from about 500
metres away. I did not have the drives electronically linked, but of 26
successive exposures only 3 pairs were out of sync. Damn lucky I guess.
My technical question: I want to scan and convert them to a stereo video,
something between depthcharge and Mpeg. Any technical tips as how to
accomplish this?
Sorry, I'm not on P3D or the Computer 3d list right now, so if this is out
of bounds just email me privately.
regards,
Sam
