I think you have to mount to the window in macro.  There's no infinity
to work with.  Vergence isn't that big of a deal anyway.  You could
mount to "infinity" using the farthest homologues but what would that 
mean and besides, you'll have more creative fun if you mount to the window.
You can also mount to the infinity that is there but not on the film.
I've done that but not always liked the effect.

I personally like to mount to infinity if infinity is in the scene.  It's 
my experience that this is easier on the audience because going from one 
slide to the next, there are no changes required.  But macro might be said 
to have an additional degree of unreality compared to "normal" scenes, so 
why worry about it?
