Not sure what George thinks but I bet it is something like, the 1 in 30
rule is a safe rule and easy to use but it is safer than required in
macros hence when it comes to macros, just do it.

My thinking would be the same except that I do like to use the spread-
sheet so that I can avoid unneccessarily limiting the depth in the shot.  
If I had George's (or Andrea's) experience, I probably wouldn't need a 
spreadsheet.  But I don't so I do.  I set up my shots ahead of time 
because my computer is 10' from where I do macro shots.  If I did macros 
in the field, I would try your handy dandy chart.
