Actually, with the right filters you can do just about anything. I think
its OK if you use a cheap plastic camera, only you know what you like. Just
remember that regardless of what you or some other photographers are doing
using inexpensive equipment, that's you. For me, I prefer quality
photographic equipment to get the best possible result. sharp images, good
depth of field, etc.
