There is no difference developing IR than normal panchromatic film. It
is suggested that you mix your stock developer with distilled water,
then dilute it with tap water, unless your tap water is impure.

Chances are that your tank should work just fine. I've used the
Patterson system for years with no problems, and unless your tank is in
the el-cheapo arena, should work equall well. Like all films, it should
be developed in total darkness, which should be the case when you put
the cap on your tank.
