One solution to loading film in a dark bag at altitude is to use a
sleeping bag. Ansel Adams wrote in one of his books (The Negative?)
that one of his favorite photo accessories was the dark bag because
before he had one he had to use his sleeping bag in all seasons (summer
in Death Valley?!), emerging an hour later sweating like crazy.

For summer work I think I'll stick with a dark bag. For winter work,
a sleeping bag with a dark bag crammed in it is probably a workable
solution to chilly fingers.
