I had this problem with Konica infrared film when I developed the film
using Edwal FG-7 w/ sodium sulfite and acetic acid stop bath (aka Kodak
SB-1). Since then, I've been using Rodinal and Indicator Stop Bath, and the
problem hasn't happened again. I have a feeling it was the acetic acid stop
bath causing the problem. An article on infrared photography I came across
on the web also mentions the problem caused by stop bath. Although I sent
the negs to Konica for examination, they haven't gotten back to me for two
months. Well, maybe I'll develop the next roll using FG-7 and Indicator
Stop Bath, and see what happens...
