..Russian IR films..
During my stay I took the oppertunity to go Camera hunting for extending
my collection of Russian cameras. This proved to be dissapointing, but I
did found today this little shop, which importss films and paper from the
East(from Czech (sP?) and Croatia, paper which I used to use in the past
(Foma), which than had a high silver contet, and thus a nice deep black).
I'll buy some to test again (it's cheap). But anyway I talked to the
owner about IR (and ofcourse plugged our mailinglist ) He told me that he
was negotiating with the Russians to import these films . From what I
understood are these the same films WJ referred to. He told about a film
he had to buy on 600m (!) rolls, and dispense themselfs to the standard
containers , he was thinking of buying a maschine for that. The
interesting/problem thing was however that this film should be stored at
-19 degC, and if allowed to warm up, shoud be used within 3 days! He
thought that this was because the film extended far (no figures) into red,
and beyond HIE. He was trying to get the Russian make a less sensitive,
and thus a easier transportable film. He'll update me on this he promised,
and maybe we can meet him as a member of our IR group..
