THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I've been wondering for years how to
avoid those patterns. I called Kodak Tech Help lines and they had never
heard of the problem, had no idea what was causing it, and accordingly
could not offer any help. I finally figured out it was the dimpled
pressure plate that was giving me those results. Subsequently I avoided
having the sun (or other light sources) at the edge of the image.
Several years ago, I entered one of these dimpled-image pictures in a local
competition--a table-top image of two roses (later coloured pink) in a bud
vase on a white table with a white wall behind, and white Venetian blinds
with the main light source behind them. It came in first, with one of the
judges comments being that he particularly liked the subtle pattern in the
old-fashioned wallpaper.
(OK, so I was lucky...)
