Processing errors -- help

My HIE roll of negatives came out dark all over.

I can't figure out where I went wrong. 
1) Can stainless steel tanks ever leak infrared light in through the
metal lid?
2) The light baffle should block the light right? 
3) It has some rust spots but it has worked many times before.
4) I usually load and unload my camera in a black film change bag.
5) Perhaps the camera has developed a light leak?
6) Can major over exposure of a few frames ruin a whole roll?

Only two images are barely discernable in the over all blackness that
extends all over the film.
