Re: Pressure plate pattern on HIE

I had the same problem with my 700si. AFAIK, all current Minolta MAXXUM
models ship with a pressure plate that is dimpled and has two cut-outs to
accomodate Minolta's Date Back (for the cameras that have it). Minolta
offers a replacement pressure plate that is smooth and does not have any
cut-outs. My local dealer found it in the catalog and ordered it for me.
I'm sorry, but I don't know the part number. I haven't had any problems
with HIE since. I suggest that you talk to your local dealer if you are
going to shoot a lot of HIE and don't want to try any of the other fixes
that have been suggested.

producing a grid of spots on my HIE negatives. The problem is intermittent
but VERY annoying as it results in unusable negatives. The pressure plate
of the camera has a grid of recesses in it which results in a grid pattern
on the negative. Does anyone know of a solution? (other than to switch to
a camera with a smooth pressure plate?)
