Lens flare

Jan Boles responded to my response about lens flare, where I described a
problem with several frames on a roll of HIE I recently finished up with
and developed. Perhaps I should to try to reexplain...
There are a few frames exhibiting this problem, in the middle of the roll
that has quite a few excellently exposed frames as well as a few of the
usual over exposed (roasted) frames inherent with HIE. This variability
in exposure I have come to expect from HIE, although it could be due to
a variability in shutter speed with the Nikkormat. I say this because I
have shot HIE through my Nikon 8008s, with very consistent results, frame
after frame.I probably bracket in the wrong direction, usually, too.
Back to the problem....
The area of the frame that exhibits this "haze", which is translated into
a print with a darkened area, is the center third of the frame running
the full length of the longest dimension of the frame. Perhaps it is a
problem with the shutter? It occurred for around 5-6 consecutive frames
running from around frame 10-15, where frames 5-16 were essentially
unusable due to overexposure. I think most of that overexposure was my
fault as I was shooting on a partially cloudy day and I probably over
compensated for what I thought would be a lack of IR. Of the few frames
in this series that are useable, the center "haze" is present.
Jan, thanks for replying! Like the person that sent the initial message
regarding lens flare, I too was beginning to wonder if anyone was going
to respond to my message. I know this forum isn't a self-help group, but
I didn't even get a simple "thank you for sharing"...... :=)
