- Name: Benjamin Jerrad Segal (or any variation thereof)

- Profession/Study: Student (Grade 12 H.S., college undetermined but
definitely planned)/Undiscovered

- Country: U.S.A.

- Personal history of photography: Intro to Photography, a high school
course in black and white photog, using 35mm TMax 400 film and an SLR
camera. Currently in Experimental Photography, a slightly more advanced
class exploring different techniques, starting with solarization.

Other than that, just playin' around on my own.

- preferred subjects: Umm, don't think I'm quite there yet.

- materials (film, filters, paper, chemistry): See 'subjects.

- format (35mm/medium format/large format): Only used 35mm.

- Other strange hobbies: Thinking; and lots of it.

- How did you find out about this list: From
<http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/mainpage.htm>. I decided to expand my
own horizons, and picked up a roll of Kodak HIE 135 yesterday. With the
attached price tag, I wanted to make sure I did everything right from the
start. ^_-

- Expand on anything photographic you like: Err, the clicking sound the
shutter makes...?

As anyone suffering through that now knows, I'm new to the field. I've got
two questions, though, that budded into being from reading the Web page.

Someone mentioned the dimpled pattern on the plate behind the shutter in
the Pentax K1000 leaves a similar look on IR negatives. Has anyone
experienced this?

Also, some Canon's EOS models were bad to shoot with. Is the same true of
the older A1 model?

Those are the only two cameras that I have access to ('cept my dad's old
Nikon F, which he guards with his life). Not much, but they take decent
shots with standard light-range film.

Oh, are IR filters necessary? I don't know how much I'm gonna be doing
this, or whether I should invest in one or two.

Thanks in advance for the answers!

Ben Segal, professional amateur
