Yep, there is a difference between the two, the unworldly effect does
increase by going with opaque filters. Note that the amount of IR
does not increase, it is just the lack of any visible radiation that
makes them weirder than normal. Haze penetration is also improved, as
the gain in that is basically a power 4 related to wavelength
increase.

PS: I hope you saw this warning I posted a week ago?
You *might* need more tricks to make IR & Noblex work....if you are
lucky it is just the back....if the swing-lens construction itself isn't
IR-proof then all bets are off....8-((
You better first try the #25 before indulging in opaque filters....
Thumbs up, and let us know how things go!
(perhaps they changed plastics/construction over time....if not I am
eager to yank some chains in Germany....;-))

Every depth of field chart I've ever seen for Widelux, and I've owned at
least one each F5, both F6 models, several F7's, and an F8 since the
mid-70's, has shown infinity not coming in until f11. It's a point I
always try to impress on new users of Wideluxes and something we always had
trouble with while renting cameras. It was also a big reason I was excited
about the newer Horizon and Noblex cameras, the ability to shoot landscapes
at "wider open" apertures. Don't know about your reference to IR, infinity
and f5.6, but I know a number of people shooting IR successfully with
Wideluxes for many years now. Geir Jordahl in the Bay Area of California
would be the first one that comes to mind. A very successful user of IR
film in a Widelux for a long time now.

Quite correct, I've seen MANY truly excellent IR images taken by Geir with many
Widelux cameras he's had over the years. Interesting, however, is that the Noblex
35 didn't work for him for IR images. It seems the Noblex is not IR light tight.
Geir tried several cameras all with the same results. He even tried lining the
camera back (where he suspected it was leaking) with lead foil to no avail.

Cheers,
