Medium rare, or well done?

I hope someone out there knows a fair bit about thermodynamics, or at least
has a better book than I do. ;)

A friend of mine has a pool table. I was thinking to myself, /Wouldn't it
look neat if the balls left glowing streaks on a negative? I'll bet I
could use that for a couple assignments./ I thought for a while, then
realized what I needed was a recipe for cooked pool balls.

My question is two-fold: How hot would I have to get something to show up
white on Kodak HIE (and what's the wavelength, if it's handy), and how hot
can I make pool balls before they become damaged?

Ben
