To J Wood and the HIE with a #87c filter, I'd say you overexposed the
film. I've shot HIE with a #87 at 1/30th second @ f/16 in bright sunlight
and gotten goot results. That's 1 f-stop below where I shoot HIE with the
usual #25. Its surprising how much IR there is that we can't see through
an otherwise opaque filter which imparts a strong image onto HIE!
BTW, what's D-17? If you meant D-19, I'll warn you its very easy to
overdevelop using this developer as it acts rather quickly! 5 minutes at 68
degrees F (20 degrees C) is fine. Just agitate well to guarantee even
development, considering the short time the film is in the soup.
