I think that many scans are done from slide, which is IHMO far
better in term of color saturation, fidelity and repetitivity
than prints (filtering is mandatory, and always subjective).
I believe that if you are making a lot of scans (like the prepress
industry), this is also less expensive and quicker than making
a print first (in one hour, you can have first slide class development,
but only minute labs quality prints).
As a corollary, scanners for slide are often designed for "pros"...
and their price too !
Has anybody a cheap slide scanner to sale :-) ? I wish to send
some color IR images to the IR gallery, but...
