My first posting

I believe you require some basic info about me for my first posting:-

I am Dan Simmons; aged 34; from Ramsgate, Kent, England.
For money I design and supervise the construction of sewers and pumping
stations.

Casually enthusiastic about photography for many years, but only just getting
around to setting up a darkroom.

My first roll of IR is waiting unexposed in the fridge while I attempt to
assimilate the excellent book by Laurie White.

Gear: tatty old Yashica 35mm SLR with Zeiss Planar. Ilford XP2 is my
favourite film (really clean and sharp for ISO400), but I expect that's about
to change.

No particular subject preferences; just try to take striking photos.

I also like cycling, hill walking, cricket, gambling (especially horse
racing), and attempting to play trumpet and bass guitar.

I came across the list on an arbitrary web search for anything to do with IR.

A slightly oblique query for my debut ('off-topic', I believe it's called).

The quality of your hearing is assessed not only by the volume (and clarity)
of sound that you are able to perceive, but also by the frequency range. E.g.
I can hear high-pitched whistles emitted by electronic equipment (such as
photocopiers, T.V.s) that are inaudible to numerous friends and colleagues. I
gather it's accepted that some people can hear beyond the normal 20khz
ceiling for humans.

Is it possible that something similar can occur with vision whereby the
wavelengths perceived by a person with exceptional eyesight extend beyond
visible red into Near Infrared radiation?

If anyone has any thoughts on this fatuous question I'd be very interested.
