Your question (plus e-mail from others) induced me to climb up and get
down my collection of old issues of Scientific American.  It was not,
as I had supposed, an early fall issue, but May 1959.

If there are enough requests, I would be willing to e-mail it as an
attachment (a long one: it runs 13 pages, including some color
illustrations) to interested list members.  But in what form?  Easiest
for me would be to make up 13 JPEG files, but even scanning the pages
that have no color as 1-bit would result in a mighty hefty collection.
More compact would be to OCR the main text and add graphics-plus-
captions JPEG files.  My OCR program is pretty crude, and this would
entail a lot of corrections, but I'm willing if that seems the best
way to do it.

Suggestions, please.
