print club

Hi all,

With interest I read all your opinions about RC/FB/print club. The
orginal question was: is there a need for a print club. If people want
to exchange photographs so let it be and let them do it. I believe that
it will be very unpractical te send all members a photograph and it will
also cost a lot of money. I fail te see how such a system will work in
practice and therefore I will not participate. If you want to show your
pictures to the world put them on Internet and have fun. If you want
your colleque- LIST- members to learn from these photographs (and of
course you want that!) then give some additional information about
exposure, development, local circumstances, tell a short
(technical)story, give advice, etc etc. If you do not act like this it
looks te me like: "see what a nice photograph I made. Isnt it good!" We
are together to learn from each other! I see it like some sort of
LIST-code!

Finally I woulkd like to emphasize, that the tonality of a FB print is
just a bit better then a RC print, especially the blacks are deeper,
although I must admit, that RC (for instance Ilford Muligrade VI) is
nearly up to the standard of a FB print. What I dont like about a RC
print is, that the glossy blacks are always greyish especially when you
let light fall on its surface at a given angle! Blacks get then some
grey reflection and thats highly disturbing! This accounts for all RC
papers! I havent seen this remark in all your opinions! For that reason
I always use solely FB paper for my exhibitions. Besides that I also use
a lot of RC prints. However when I have a beauty I print it on FB

Does it really matter that LIST members who will participate in the
print club use RC, FB or electronics etc.? I believe it does not matter
at all! The object is to show ones creations to each other and to allow
LIST members to learn from it as described above. So therefore let us
stop the discussions about the pros and contras of RC/FB etc. It is
not of any relevance.

I meant to have a positive contribution to the print club subject. Hope
I will be understood.

Greetings
