Considering the fact that photography has been around a little over 150
years I'd say that this statement is suspect. <g>  There is nothing to
date show that toned RC prints are any less "archival" than fiber.

Quite the opposite may well be the case, as the processing of fiber
prints requires proper attention to technique to ensure its "archival"
nature (I place the word within quotes because I'm not exactly sure what
we're talking about when we use the term).

Of course, everyone working with fiber in the group here certainly uses
proper washing methods, so I won't belabor this point.  I'm thinking
along the lines that it is no easy task to ensure that a fiber print
will be flat.  This requires (IMHO) that the fiber print be dry mounted,
which definitely compromises its archival nature (archival in the
respect that the mounting is not reversal, which is a criteria amongst
conservationists).  I think of a Dorothea Lange print I looked at a
while back that was wavy as a potato chip.  Really distracted from the
image.
