I used a B+W 023 dark yellow filter (which is the same as a Kodak Wratten
12) for both the AR-5 and E-6 processed stuff. Kodak is dead right when
they say that the Wratten 12 filter is the best for Forestry-related work.
It clearly brings out the subtle differences between the various hardwood
tree species that grow in the Great Lakes area of North America. The
effect really is quite colorful.
The E-6 stuff on the other hand had a distinct magenta cast that erased the
subtle distinctions mentioned above. On the other hand, the increased
contrast really punched up the final transparency. I don't know if a
change in filtration would make the E-6 processed CIR more like the AR-5
stuff. This will be something for us to try next year when the leaves
reappear.
