It would absolutely be better to start with a #25 filter.  Just place it over your
lens and meter that way.  If you are not able to change the camera's speed just open
your aperature a stop, yielding EI 200.  Most of the work with HIE on my Web page was
shot at EI 250, so that's close enough.  Anyway, your camera is different from mine,
so you'll get your own results anyway.
