Effects of developer on IR negatives?

Well after complaining about the Creative Printmaking book by Theresa Airey
for the last couple of posts I suppose I should give it some credit.

It contains a really informative section that talks about the effects of
different developers on the image of an IR negative. (I think the author
used HIE for all her examples.)

She has two comparison pictures of the same scene that only differ in the
developer used to form the negative. The image from the neg. developed in
D-76 looks very dramatic and contrasty. Compared to the image (from the neg
developed in Rodinal) the D-76 has more contrast and enhances the grain more.
However, the Rodinal image has a much more gradual contrast range that
contains more information.

The author says the following about Kodak's D-19 developer:
This developer gives an IR image a harsh, special effects look; very
dark, pronounced grain; and hardly any midtones. The resulting image can
look like a Kodalith print with grain."

And this about HC 110 Dilution B
You can use HC110 for developing infrared film but it tends to flatten out
the tones in the negative and delivers an overall flat look to the print.

I found all of this very interesting! I've always used T-Max diluted 1:4 at
75F for developing HIE. I wonder how a TMAX IR print would look compared to
a rodinal IR print.

Is there a chart any where that lists the various effects of different
developers on IR negatives? What is your personal favorite developer to use
with B&W IR film and why?
Thanks Rolland Elliott
