Posterization is a result of printing where the print has relatively few tones, i.e.
there is not a smooth blending of tonal values. If you can get a copy of "High
Contrast Images" by Elinor Stecker you will find an excellent chapter on the
subject. You can use IR or "regular" panchromatic film.
