bio and some questions
hi! i'm new to this mailing list and here's my short (yeah right!) bio. my
name is aldwin c. aspillera. i am a college student here in the
philippines. recently, i took photography class. somehow, i got hooked to
it. i've been taking pictures for the past four months and so far, i really
love it. i use a pentax k1000 that is usually loaded with tri-x. i use two
lenses, an 80-200 zoom and a 28. i don't use any filters. i don't have a
darkroom but i'm planning to set up one. i was taught how to process and
print my films in school. the school darkroom uses d-76 and my teacher
recommends kodabrome II rc f3 glossy paper. i love taking pictures of
landscapes and old churches. i usually enjoy looking at people pictures
more than taking them but i'm trying hard to change that.
i subscribed to this mailing list because i'm really interested with
infrared photography. i saw a gallery on the net that featured castle ruins
taken with IR film and i was awestruck. my jaw dropped when i saw those
pics. since then i've been trying to research on IR photography. i hoped
that by subscribing to this mailing list i would learn more about IR. so
far, i've learned a lot but i still have so many questions. IR film is
really, really rare here in the philippines. i would have more luck finding
a live dinosaur than finding a roll of IR film here. i'm thinking of
importing the stuff. (by the way, how much does it cost?) my problem is,
won't the film get fogged because of the trip? also, if ever it does
survive the trip will the heat and the humidity of the philippines affect it
in any way? just this afternoon the temperature hit 36C! another thing,
what's the best camera for IR? i saw in your ir-faq that k1000 leaves marks
on the film because of the pressure plate. so i guess that means i have to
find another camera. please help me. i really want to take up IR
photography. thanks.
by the way, if you want to see that gallery i was talking about the url is
