PS Mike: please adjust the settings in your mail software, you are
sending plain text as hard to open file attachment....

If you only knew how large your horizon is with the RB....:-))
There are roughly 4 films on the market today, ranging from real-IR
to pseudo-IR (Kodak HIE/EIR, Konica 750 IR and Ilford SFX200 & Agfa
APX200S).
While all these emulsions are available in 35mm, only Konica and
Ilford (recently) are available in 120. Yet Kodak HIE/EIR *is*
available in medium format, 70mm perforated.
And the magic is that Mamiya makes just such a back for the RB, since
the days of the Pro-S (with all the necessary interlocks). 55-65
shots from one roll/cartridge, a neat feature even with other
ordinary films (see my homepage for a full list of 70mm emulsions,
URL below in the admin footer).

Btw, I currently have a line on two new RB backs, for
US$400 each. That's about half the new price....
In box, with manual. If anyone is interested, send me a private mail.

> 2. Which films to learn with.

I would select films on their image effect....doesn't make much
sense to learn the entire chain of image taking to final print with
a film you won't use later on anyway. The strongest
romantic/dreamy/otherworldly effects can only be obtained with Kodak
HIE and a dark IR filter....

> 3. How to focus

Depends on your lens.
PS: Mamiya makes drooling APO lenses with which no focus correction is
necessary....;-))

> 4. Filters needed

Depends on what image effect you want, and how low the exposure index
is you can deal with. Kodak HIE & #87C results in an effective 12
ASA.

No. Only applies to Kodak HIE, but the felt trap is not IR-proof, and
even it were, light would find its way in by means of light piping,
as HIE doesn't have an antihalation layer.

For more info about IR I recommend you read the IR-FAQ first (which
you should have done if you had read the welcome message from
Majordome carefully....;-)). A link to this FAQ is on my homepage,
