filters

Hi all,
Continued my testing of odd filters. Cut a piece off from the black foil
in which Multigrade photo paper is wrapped. It's fully opaque to IR,
blanc negatives, nothing at all! I decided to stop this sort of testing
although I have learned from it!
And now a different kind of cake:
Some days ago I received #87C foil from WJ. That's the proper IR filter!
It works beautifully between the film rails. I did some bracketing today
and found out, that considering my developing procedure I can rate HIE
at appr. 50 ASA, which is about 2 stops more then the 10 ASA recommended
on THE LIST. If there is plenty of IR and the sun comes from behind my
back I can rate HIE at 80 ASA! I develop in XTOL 1+1 at 20 degrees
Celsius during 10 minutes. It might be a bit pushed and eventually it
could give a bit more grain. This is something I still have to test.
Cutting #87C is still a bit tricky, something I haven't mastered yet.
Placing the filter between the filmrails is an easy job. I noticed tiny
spots on the negatives caused by some dirt/dust on the filter. Moreover
I found small scratches on the filter caused by the grinding effect of
the film. Couldn't see them on the negatives yet.

Re the above I have following questions:
1. Are there more list-members rating HIE + #87C at appr. 50 ASA and if
so what is their developing procedure?
2.Will there be more grain when HIE is pushed a bit?
3.I need some practical tips for cutting #87C properly
4.How can I prevent dust/dirt between filter and film? When do they harm
really?
5.I think that you cannot prevent the filter being scratched by the film
after having run some films. It needs to be replaced after some time.
Are little scratches visible on the negative? What are the experiences
of the list-members in this respect?

Overall my first experiences with #87C BTFR are very positive! Hope to
have some reactions from you!
