Well the obvious solution according to the information you gave is to use
5.6 instead of 16 for your aperture. Obviously the flash sensor does not
respond to the infrared in exactly the same manner as visible light.
Bracket a half stop either side of this next time and zero in on the best
settings. Remember to take notes on what is what. After a roll or two you
shoud have it just right. Above all have fun with it!
