Hi there, dear XTOL-users !
I'm, using XTOL for 1 year and I'm very happy with it. I'm normaly using
Kodak TMAX100/400/3200 and HIE. The only film wich was a mess
until now, was an Ilford FP4+, which went out extremly grainy. One should
notice, that the development times in the Kodak data sheets are valid, if
you develop up to 5 35mm films in 1 litre of XTOL-stock.
from 5-10 films extend the recommend times by 15%
from 11-15 films extend ist by another 15% (=32%)
Example:
The small tank you are using has a capacity of 250ml and takes 1 roll 35mm
film and your are using XTOL in a 1:1 dillution (= 8 films/1 litre
XTOL-stock). That means you have to get the recommended time for your
film/temperature/dillution out of the Kodak datasheet J107.PDF and extend
this time by 15% !
This is mentioned on page 2 of this document, but not as clearly as it could
be. With this starting-point recommodations, I never had trouble. I can't
comment the results with HIE, because I just developed my first roll and I
didn't have the time to enlarge anything, but the negs are lookung OK.
best regards and good luck,
Chris
