Re: New HIE Problem (Lines)

This thread is a few weeks old and was very short then.  Because it was
short, I got the idea that the fine plus-density horizontal line segments
spaced at eight-frame intervals in my HIE negs was a problem in my camera
(Nikon 8008s).  I have now done a test by simply shooting a gray card using
the 8008s for the first half of the roll and a Nikon FG for the rest.  The
lines appear every eight frames (according to the frame numbers on the film
edge) throughout.
So the problem must  be with the HIE film.  It's batch 2871 (exp. 11/98)
and I have had the problem with 9 of the 10 rolls of the brick of 20 rolls
I bought.  This was the only problem with my otherwise productive trip to
Utah and Nevada.
I am wondering why no one else on the list has found this particular defect
(yet?).  
I'll be sending my test roll to Kodak, but now I'm concerned about how to
avoid this for sure on the next field trip (Korea and Kauai in the second
half of August - any suggestions for good locations to shoot would be
welcome).
