On June 1 I posted a comment on problems with HIE batch 2801 but finding no
problem with a roll from batch 2871. However, I agree with you, that the
problem is the film, even though it is inconsistent. I think the problem
is not the emulsion but the film or film base. My horizontal lines
continued visible in the spaces between frames and on the leader (or at
least on as much of it as I developed). I have no knowledge of film
manufacturing, but I fear cost pressures have resulted in lowered quality
control in production. Some of the problems reported with color IR film are
also sporadic and inconsitent but frequent. In its defense I must admit I
have had no problems with other Kodak films that I can lay at its feet.
