Handling HSI

OK folks, I'm going to show my true novicehood here with this question.

When I was in Ireland and trying to unload some 4x5 film holders, I ended up
scratching them trying to get them out of the holder (inside a changing bag,
sitting in the front seat of my car).  I did this to several, even though it
did not seem I was putting undue pressure on them.  I was wearing gloves (I had
learned that lesson on another foreign trip).  The problem was scratches, not
prints.

Anyone else have a hard time getting 4x5 IR negs out of holders without
damaging them.

God, I'm revealing too much here.
