New to the group

Hello, I'm a new subscriber to the digest. I am a chiropractor living near
Boston, Ma. U.S.A. I went to Mass. College of Art in the 1970s. I have
been taking photos for about 25 years. A several years ago I began to
pursue a more serious route and have been showing my work and selling some
pieces at local galleries. Many years ago I discovered IR for myself and
have been hooked ever since. I began to use it during a trip to New Mexico
and was amazed at the images I got. In '97 I returned to Bali, Indonesia
just to shoot IR because the have some of the most incredible greens there
that I have ever seen anywhere else in the world. I let a local lab
develope it for me, with usually good results, and make 3x5 prints just to
get a better sense of what is there. I have a full darkroom and do all of
my own printing. I use mostly Illford MG IV FB cold and warm tone in 11x14,
but usually 16x20. Selenium toning. I shoot in 35mm with a cosina body and
a 28-80 zoom. Usually hand held metering, bracketing etc. but sometimes use
the camera meter at iso 400. Great camera because of the auto mirror lock up
with the in body timer for those long exposures. For konica 120 I use a
Mamiya Super 23 and a Mamiya Universal with yellow or orange filters. Great
cameras. Rangfinders. Backs come in 6x7 and 6x9, which is a nice big neg.
The Universal also takes a polaroid back for 3x4 pack film so you can do on
the spot proof in BW. Both have ground glass backs as well as the
rangefinder for composing. The Super 23 also has a moveable back for
perspective control. You can't beat the lense quality either.

Joseph
