Being "black" doesn't mean something is opaque to IR. It depends upon the
pigment material they use to make the object black. Some black plastics are
transparent to IR! For example, look through a #87C IR filter. You can't.
It's black to us, but it passes IR just fine. So always test an unknown
before "it counts."
