I have heard the same thing about plastic tanks.  I have also heard that you
should use a metal lid on metal tanks.  I use a metal tank with a plastic lid
and don't have any problems.  I process in my basement where there are no
windows which might also help, and turn all fluorescent room lights off.

Yes, the container is plastic, but it's inside the metal canister inside that
plastic container.  I don't think that means anything.  Someone else suggested
doing a test, that sounds like a good idea.
