Hmmm.
remimds me of an old Hitachi tubed (Newvicon)monochrome video camera that I
had (1982)when looking at the coal fire in my lounge to my eyes it was out
and was only fairly warm to the hand, but to the camera the flames were
leaping up the chimney. Most of the IR sensitive mono ccd cameras that I use
have a quoted sensitivity at 980nano meters which is invisible to the human
eye. The covert IR lamps work around this figure also.

ps. I dont have any contacts at Sony but I will try Phillips and JVC for
spectral response as most manufacurers use Sony CCDs
