My 9 year old Canon camcorder burned up last week, so I went out and
bought a new Sony. I was looking at getting one before the "nude news"
came out.( For some reason I can point that out as often as I like and no
one will believe me!) :)
In any case the my old A1 was about 1/10 as sensitive to light as the new
one. The night shot feature works on
it in the daytime but you don't need to use it to see IR.
I put a lee 87 filter over the lens and everything
becomes that wonderful black and white ir world that you would expect to
see in prints. The Canon would only work
with an 87 on the brightest of days the Sony is more flexible. The
nightshot mode gives you a sense
of IR but there is some color tint in the picture which can be removed by
switching to b&w mode.
