I think its a great idea.  However, I think it depends on whether you have
experience in developing and printing your own black and white material. I
doubt you will find commercial labs to do HIE and to give  you the kind of
prints you will want.  If you can do your own lab work, you should be able
to test out using HIE in short order.  Even 25 rolls will give you 900
frames.
