Subminiature Infra-red flash use

FWIW, a quick note on using"invisible" flash with subminiature cameras.
Last night I found myself attending a more or less required reception
after sitting in meetings all weekend (:-<), and decided to have at least
a bit of fun, so I loaded my Tessina with Kodak Highh Speed Infrared and
taped two layers of unexposed 120 E6 material as a cheap 89 filter over a
small electronic flash. The flash has a guide number of 56 for pan film,
and 33 for infrared (with the filter). Since the ambient level of
lighting was fairly high, I shot at f/3.5 1/250, which meant that almost
all of the illumination came from the flash.
In short, it worked perfectly. The pictures came out fine, and almost no
one noticed that I was taking pictures. Because infrared film is on a
thiner base than pan film, I got an extra 50% on the roll (30 rather than
20 exposures; 24 inches rather than 16). The few people who noticed the
camera mostly asked if it was the latest digital model (but then this was
the opening of the International Arctic Research Center). The only person
who realized what I was doing was the Chancellor's husband, who turns out
to also have a Tessina, and wanted to know where to get film processed
locally. A couple of people asked why I had a flash attached since I
wan't using it :-)
