Thanks to everyone who sent me links and references! I'm going to go
take a look now at some of the sites recommended and check the library
system for books. 
The only prominent questions for me now are:
focusing (same or focus a little closer? isn't there a formula? i've
heard different things...)
exposure (do i trust my light meter or do something different?)
Hopefully i'll come across some of this information on some of the
pages i'm about to go check out. Thanks again, you've all been very
helpful!

P.S. I bought the IR film today, step 1 accomplished! (i got one
b&w-Kodak high speed, which i want to try first, and 1 roll of color)
what an adventure!
