there was a thread on this a while back. 

I thought at the time it was over agitation. I haven't had the problem. ah well. use plastic or
stainless steel tanks, usual invert twice, bang the tank, let it sit there. I also fill the tank completely
with solution.

colleague thinks that its more probably caused by fixer exhaustion. so that's where my post
came from.

hmmm. also, we have problems with the water in Missouri. could be an additional problem factor.

This post has appeared out of nowhere, but if it refers to uneven
density around sprocket holes on HIE, it's a very common problem.

The usual cause is over-energetic agitation: use a gentle inversion
technique with no swirling.

Watch that wrist action!
