Hi there,
My name's Clark
Reid and I am new to this mailing list. I'm a Canadian who's just re-located to
the Netherlands (Delft). I'm a commercial, corporate, biomedical photographer by
training, but most of my practical experience has been with the
corporate/advertising/wedding market. I studied at the Ohio Institute of
Photography and Technology full time for 2 years and I've been shooting for
almost 10.
I'm no stranger to
Kodak's b&w infrared and I've been shooting this stuff since 1990 on both
small and large formats. I've processed my film in both D-76 and Rodinal (did
not care so much for Rodinal- nice tones but too grainy for my taste). I have a
couple of questions for someone out there who have a decent amount of experience
with the HIE sheet film- what causes the little pinholes in the emulsion? I'm
certain they are not air bubbles. I don't use a pre-soak, but do mix my
developer with distilled water, use a water stop bath, and regular fixer. I have
heard that agitating too hard can create problems in this area. Could this be? I
proces my film in a HP Combi-Plan daylight tank for sheet film- I really like
it.
Also, about the
Kodak developer Xtol- is this sold as a liquid or powder? What stores in the
Netherlands stock this chemistry, and also can someone out there tell me
which camera stores have the best selection and prices on black and white film
and paper?
Any answers to
these questions would be greatly appreciated. It's a bit of a headache trying to
learn so many things like finding new suppliers in a foreign country-
Aaaaarrraaaghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!!
Clark
