Pinholes

 what causes the little pinholes in the emulsion? I'm certain they =
are not air bubbles.

Last year, I solicited comments from IR Digest subscribers concerning 
the pinhole problem on 4x5 HSI. I compiled and edited the notes and on 
November 25, 1998, sent them to my contact at Kodak, Dick Johnson.

Since he never replied I put a few messages on his voice mail and 
finally reached him today (2/5/99).

Again, he was uneasy discussing the manufacturing difficulties Kodak is 
having. Johnson said my package of responses from all over the world was 
helpful in his trying to convince his organization to fix the problem.

He could not go into details with me, but he is optimistic there will be 
a solution "sometime this year".

I do not know if he is just blowing smoke, but I was somewhat encouraged 
to think that our few little voices may have been heard and heeded by 
the Great Yellow Father.
