The clerk hasn't a clue. I've exclusively used Patterson tanks for
numerous years with zero problems. It is true that long ago some very
cheap development tanks were sold that were not IR opaque, but these were
also the el-cheapo type that would break when you rapped them to dislodge
air bubbles. I don't think you can find non-IR opaque tanks these days.
