Development Fog

I have been using stainless tanks (kindermann) for developing standard 35mm
films. With the thinner base of Infrared, I've been debating purchase of
the Paterson line of plastic tanks, hoping the reels would be a bit easier
to load. 

When I went to the store to purchase the tank, the clerk strongly advised
against it, stating the IR film would be fogged, since the plastic tank was
not IR resistant. I found it hard to believe, but am holding back on a
purchase until I float this thought out to the masses here. Anyone using
the Paterson all plastic tanks?  Comments....Thanks!!
