Since IR film has no antihalation backing you cannot expose the film to any
light at all.  This means anytime you open the loader to insert or remove a
cassette it has to be dark.  I second the idea of testing the loading bay for
IR safe condition but I think a few inches should be enough.  I would tend to
do it all in the dark.  If you are an IR photographer you had better become
very proficient as organizing and working in total darkness.
