Even in Laurie Whites book on Infrared it shows Konica as very contrasty.
When I tried it at the recommended times in D-76 I got hard to print
results. For that reason I experimented and found out Technidol works well
at the same specs as Tech Pan film. I checked the results with a
densitometer and found that although the base fog was a little high ( .41 )
the density range was dead on. I found max hilites at 1.80 and shadow
detail at .45 and looking at an average image I got shadows running .23
over base fog and highlight detail .97 over and printed full range on
Polycontrast paper with no filter. Kinda makes it more fun when you don't
have to fight the negative.
Nice thing about the technidol it comes in a liquid pouch that mixes to 8
oz for one shot use. I mixed two at a time and ran two 120 rolls through it
with a minute added for the second roll. I almost suspect you could get
more out of it but didn't bother to check it out.
